A day (just before the Second World War) in the life of the (even today) very picturesque town of Zamosc in Eastern Poland and a relatively large pre-war Jewish population. DJ and endpapers have old pictures of Zamosc. A lovely book and first novel by this author.

Laid in is an interesting 38 page booklet possibly signed by the author (?) that accompanied the Rozdroza volumes entitled (in English): List of Historical Figures - Words Forgotten or Rarely Adopted. The booklet is in Near Fine condition. These three volumes represent a portion of the four story total of the original Boleslaw Chrobry fictional saga (a pre 1000AD Polish nobleman and his Central European intrigues of the day). NOTE: I cannot verify if this is signed (it has the appearance and 'feel' that it is) BUT it could also be a facsimile signature - please see pictures. Regardless these volumes and the attending booklet are very uncommon!

Note: Volumes 1 and 3 are quite nice in about Very Good condition; Volume 2 has some loose pages (no missing leaves), and; Volume 4 dust jacket is in tatters with large piece of spine missing but largely intact and present. Fictionalized story about the Cossack culture in the Don River area, particularly showing the waning customs at the dawn of the 20th Century. Poignant again today with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Complete story. Uncommon.
