About This Item

St. Paul, MN: Penguin High Bridge Audio, 1994. Read by Lee Meriwether From back of package: "Intense media coverage of former Colonel Cammermeyer's dismissal from the U.S. Army has stirred debate... Her Bronze Star for duty in Vietnam, her being named Nurse of the Year and her role as Chief Nurse of the Washington National Guard...abruptly ended in 1992..." In 1989, during a security clearance interview, Cammermeyer disclosed that she is a lesbian. She was honorably discharged because of her sexual orientation and subsequently filed a civil lawsuit. The court ruled that the ban on gays and lesbians serving in the (United States) military was unconstitutional. Cammermeyer returned to the National Guard and served as one of the few openly gay or lesbian people in the U.S. military while the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy was in effect, until her retirement in 1997. A television movie was based on this book. Abridged, 3 hours, on two (2) cassettes houses in standard plastic cassette cases. They are tucked into an illustrated cardstock case. Both of the plastic cassette cases have a crack; the cardstock case has a sunned spine and moderate wear. . Audio Cassette. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
