Craigie, First Lieutenant, 8th Iowa Volunteer Infantry 1861-1864, who later rose to the rank of Colonel, 11th U.S. Infantry in 1902. He was also breveted First Lieutenant and Captain in 1867 for gallant and meritorious service in the Civil War battles of Shiloh and Iuka, respectively.
