Near fine in a VG+ jacket. There are a couple of small scuffs to the front panel of the jacket, and a slght lean to the book. Not price clipped, binding not sunned, includes newspaper clippings about the author. First American Edition stated.

Laid in is the NYT review of this title, and a newspaper piece on Alfred Chester, a novelist living in Tangier who had a breakdown and believed Paul Bowles was attempting to kill him.

Wallace's first book, he would go on to write wildly popular novels throughout the 60s and 70s. This book looks at such figures as Alexander Selkirk (the basis for Robinson Crusoe) Dr. Joseph Bell (an inspiration for Sherlock Holmes) and several others. First edition stated, VG in a VG price-clipped jacket with a couple of small chips to edges. Book is in quite nice condition, with quarter bound with bright red cloth and rose colored boards.
