Linden Publishing, 2010-02-01. Paperback. Very Good. Hamler, A.J. : Civil War Woodworking: 17 Authentic Projects for Woodworkers and Reenactors. Fresno : Linden Publishing, 2009 (per copyright page). Demy quarto (4to) size, 11"/28cm h. Bound in publisher's glossy color wrappers, illustrated front and back w numerous photos both historic and contemporary. [Xii] pp prelim material, 163 numbered pp, plus one unnumbered following. Helpfully divided into three parts - 25+ pp on Getting started and considering tools and materials; three pages at end on additional resources/websites, bibliography, and the heart of the work, the projects themselves. Ranging from simple tent pegs to the amazing officer's field desk. The hardtack box chapter also includes a recipe for hardtack. Not quite sure how the "17 projects" is calculated (there are 12 project chapters, one of which (games) does include at least three simple games...plus the hardtack recipe gets close to 17. Still, that's quibbling - what a resource! The work is indeed profusely illustrated. Condition notes: Nice clean copy, not ex-library, no notes/writing, light wear/a few scuffs to wrappers, binding solid. Though by no means a "like-new" book, is gift-appropriate for the enthusiast. We personally inspect every book we offer.

Description:
N.p.: N.p., 1864. Paperback. 8vo. Self-cover. 8pp. Very good. Cover a tad soiled and age toned, else clean and attractive. Text of Naglee's September 27, 1864 letter to William D. Kelley. Pages 5-8 consist of "Second Chapter from the Secret History of the War," Naglee's October 6, 1864 letter to Kelley. Not in Monaghan, but just as cryptic bibliographically and clearly a variant of some sort. (Interestingly, Monaghan mentions "A Chapter from the Secret History of the War" and "First Chapter from the Secret History of the War" as variant titles -- but never any "Second Chapter.") Unusual. DORNBUSCH 51720 note (where a publication year of 1862 is mistakenly hazarded).

Description:
Unlisted Publisher, 1861. Map. Very Good. Map size - 7.75"x9". Leaf size - 9"x10.5". Clean with some folds; probably from a book. Very short closed tear at right margin; small piece of tape on reverse. Uncommon Civil War map showing the Battle of Port Royal. Publisher unknown, but probably contemporary. The Battle of Port Royal was one of the earliest amphibious operations of the American Civil War, in which a United States Navy fleet and United States Army expeditionary force captured Port Royal Sound, South Carolina, between Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina, on November 7, 1861. The sound was guarded by two forts on opposite sides of the entrance, Fort Walker on Hilton Head Island to the south and Fort Beauregard on Phillip's Island to the north.
