Description:
Fullerton, CA: Associated Councils of Social Engineers, 1964. Newsletter. Thirteen issues of the 8.5x11 inch mimeographed newsletter, generally moderate toning with the occasional penciled notation, many with postal markings and mailing address; last issue has final page loose but present. Undated, but the earliest issue here refers to the 1960 presidential election (lamenting Kennedy's Catholicism), and the last issue urges the reader to buy "They Dare Not Call it Treason" (an error for the 1964 bestseller None Dare Call It Treason). Issues present are vol. 3 nos. 3-7 of The Analyst, and vol. 4 nos. 1-7 and vol. 5 no. 2 of The Equalitarian-Analyst. The format and style of writing suggests a connection to the earlier Equalitarian Bulletin, a utopian journal issued by the Provisional Equalitarian Club that drew much from Technocracy, the IWW, and Christian economics. However, by this point the political perspective, while still syncretic and difficult to categorize, borrows a bit more from the… Read More

Description:
Los Angeles: Frederic Dudley Palmer, 1945. Pamphlet. [4], 26, [2]p., wraps. 7.5 x 5.5 in. With a typed form later tipped on and folded on first leaf. Paper toned, commensurate with age. Very Good. The author promotes a technocratic "wageless economy" where machines and automation enable 12-hour work weeks; rails against an elite class that hoards wealth. With references to the recent conclusion of World War II and the atomic bomb. Also makes disparaging remarks about Mexican-Americans and Mexican immigrants who, he claims, have made American streets unsafe. The text appears to have been expanded and published at the end of the decade by J.W. Luce.
