Berkeley: Self-published by the author, 1970. Handbill. 8.5x11 inch statement by UC Berkeley Library Assistant and mother of Joe McDonald. Slightly rubbed, else in very good condition. In the wake of the recent Jackson, Mississippi student murders she passionately encourages library workers to make changes in their institution and world by means of forceful protest and relevant political activity.

Springfield OH: Crowell-Collier Publishing Co, 1940. Magazine. 166p., slick magazine in 11.5x8.5 inch color wraps, some color within. Cover text announces "I Backed Hitler by Fritz Thyssen" but full title starts "I Made a Mistake When.." First couple of leaves bear marginal tears and the terminal leaves are very faintly rippled by damp; no adhesions, a pretty good copy. Besides the many visuals (some dreadful, of course), find an essay by Turner Catledge (Mississippi-born, managing editor at NYT throughout the 1950s, and a tolerant portrait of Norman Thomas with photos of self and family (but the author offers no endorsement).

The neo-Confederate journal stood for "States rights and racial integrity." Much on the situation in Port Gibson, where it is reported that Black protesters from up north are attacking locals who fail to comply with a boycott of white-owned businesses. Other articles breathlessly describe Negro lawlessness around the world.

The neo-Confederate journal stood for "States rights and racial integrity." Cover depicts Jimmy Carter embracing Martin Luther King Sr., with an article lamenting his election. Another article describes a verdict against the NAACP for its role in leading a boycott in Port Gibson.

Paperback. 112p., illustrated with many diagramatic and line maps, plus several full-color stratigraphic photo-maps with legible overlaid terminology, presswork on glazed alkaline paperstock, a detailed account of this geologic investigation. Softbound in 11.5x8.5 inch glossy green wraps titled in white, mild signs of handling and age (crimps along spinefold, pressure-marks to cover illustrations, entirely sound within, clean and unmarked, a very good copy.

Greenville MS: Yves Macaire, 1965. Magazine. 83p., familiar magazine format with plenty of b&w illustrations and color on both sides of both covers, a rather handled copy with dust- and handling soil to covers, small ink splash to front, an ink math problem on the back. Some literary sophistication in evidence, find within a Jesse Hill Ford composition and mention of an earlier issue devoted entirely to Faulkner. Staples are a tad rusted. Good.

Boston: Meador, 1949. Hardcover. 308p., very good hardcover in chipped dj. Academic, social and spiritual advice for students, by the Jamaican-born Dean of Alcorn College in Mississippi. He was also the author of "The education of black people in Florida" and other books.
