Endsheets bear several brief ownership signatures. Text has some discussion of slavery.

London: the Hakluyt Society, 1979. Pamphlet. 27p., softbound, a stapled pamphlet measuring 8.5x5.5 inches, divided precisely at the staple with a couple of printed notices laid in, everything in good clean order, near-fine. The talk concerns little-broached areas of pursuit, namely the Arabic principally but also Iranian/Persian and Ottoman Turkish. Professor Beckingham thinks that as constituted, Hakluyt is unready to tackle these promising projects. He also makes a case for map-makers to have been way behind experienced mariners in an understanding of geography and the lay of the land in general.

Washington DC: Government Printing Office, 1920. Hardcover. Ex library set in near-matching blue cloth boards, textblocks nice & clean, each with a differing folded map in colors. We see no mis-folding or foldline splits to maps; the four maps and indeed the texts themselves appear not to have been checked out or even browsed. The cloth casings on the other hand are scruffy and covered with library marks, aesthetic issue only; all hinges are sound, good reading and reference copies. FYI, volumes 2 shows the title as "Australian [note the 'n'] Pilot" on both the title page and boards... Volumes 3 and 4 show the added 'n' on the covers only. We see a 7-book set on the net, the 3 books we cannot provide all being shorter softbounds.

San Francisco: Black Scholar, 1982. Magazine. 96p. staplebound journal, very good. This issue largely devoted to the Port Chicago disaster of 1944, and theories that it was a nuclear explosion that killed 200 Black sailors.

Barcelona: the Colegio, 1924. 83p., oblong booklet, softbound in 6.5x8.5 inch buff wraps decorated with a drypoint cartouche and illustrated with many sepia vignettes from photogravures; further decorated with chapter dividers in apricot and dark brown, text-frames in blue and orange. A production meant to please, deriving from a 1923 royal decree, all texts in Spanish, French and English. Wraps are deckle-edged and overlap somewhat, with overlaps in very good condition, the item has had few or no perusers over this last century. Covers alkaline and near-fine, text paperstock slightly toned, a very good copy.

Long a left wing inside the labor movement, it has been inside and independent of the AFL-CIO. This issue focuses on international solidarity with the Liverpool Dockers who had been on strike.

Long a left wing inside the labor movement, it has been inside and independent of the AFL-CIO. This issue focuses on international solidarity with the Liverpool Dockers who had been on strike and the refusal of ILWU Local 10 & Local 34 members to cross a community picket line set up on the docks in Oakland against the "Neptune Jade" for delivering cargo from the struck docks in Liverpool.

Please note, the text is entirely in the Dutch language. A nice crisp clean copy, small spot of wear to cover's foredge else entirely sound.

Paperback. 503p., illustrated with numerous period views in vivid color and otherwise, site and exhibit photography, a couple line maps, a handsome big softbound that one reviewer calls "a triumph of book production". Wraps are 9.5x6.5 inch glossy color, an inch & one quarter thick, condition is as-new: entirely sound, clean and unmarked.

Hardcover. 284p., profuse b&w illustrations immersed in the running text, mostly photographic (contemporary and exhibit) with an admixture of period images, hardbound in 8.5x8.5 inch black boards titled metallic red and enclosed in the dust jacket. Item bears a rubberstamp ownership and is very faintly "dished", and the dj shows mild edgewear. Else clean and unmarked, a good to very good copy.

Hardcover. x, 170p., illustrations and plentiful maps, hardbound in Hakluyt's signature blue cloth boards gilt & blind and enclosed in the dust jacket. A handsome book in perfectly sound, clean and unmarked condition. The dust jacket has a mildly toned spine panel and a touch of top edge wear: very good copy. Laid in is a Society pamphlet with 1) text of talk by Boxer on this selection, and 2) annual report and accounts for 1978 [sic, not '68]. Second series no. CXXXII.

First edition, hardbound in textured dark blue cloth boards spine-titled and enclosed in the dust jacket. Book itself is mildly edgeworn with two slightly turned corner-tips, some mottling of color to back cover, titling dim but legible, while the dj has a small ragged chip to top rim and other milder edgewear, and tape strengthenings to verso. Front free endpaper bears a couple of strokes of red ball-point (serving no purpose); item is sound, clean, and otherwise unmarked.
