Description:
[Beverly Hills and Desert Hot Springs], 1990. Album. White leatherette three-ring binder photo album holding thirty-one sheets containing sixty photos, mostly b&w 8x10 professional shots and film stills but also many candid b&w and color shots, three contact sheets of Mazursky as an actor in various costumes from around 1961-62. Also laid in are five paper documents including an American Film cover, a special screening invitation for "Moscow on the Hudson," and most interestingly, his Varsity Masquers Kayfer Award for supporting actor for the 1949-50 season. Many of the photos in the album are by Alan Pappe, several with his signature and date at bottom. The photos are mounted on self-adhesive backing. Thus they are well-preserved, but would be difficult to remove. One, depicting Donald Sutherland and Mazursky on the "Alex in Wonderland" shoot, has large corner chips as if someone attempted to clumsily remove the photo from the page. Light wear and soiling to the binder, several blank sheets at the…

Description:
London: The Macmillan Press Ltd, 1975. Hardcover. xiv, 192p., hardbound in light blue cloth boards gilt, lacks the jacket but has a lengthy (700 words) typewritten letter laid in, in response to editor's request for a reading; signed "hm", it elaborates two disagreements. This copy of the book, by the way, was from Payer's personal collection with her contact info in holograph on the pastedown. Also laid in is one of book's dj flaps which bears discursive comment. Book itself is rather worn with short tears and fray at top and tail, and the second half of textblock has much pencilling. As is, but the enclosed letter should compensate for the damage.

Description:
Paris: the author, 1955. Letter. Four-page penned letter to Sawyer, on recto and verso of two sheets of paper decorated with scattered bits of pasted illustrations and colored paper, the text written around these additions. The letter has been folded into quarters for mailing, otherwise very good; original envelope with postal cancellations is also present. Koenig, born in Seattle, served in France at the end of World War II and fell in love with the country. After studying at the Sorbonne, he met Jean Robert Arnaud and opened a gallery (and personal relationship) with him in Paris. This would presumably be how Koenig met Sawyer, who had written on the arts for the Paris Herald Tribune, but by this time was living in Baltimore. In an amiable letter packed with personal observations on the Paris art world, Koenig discusses the local reception of his work. "One said 'Too American still,' and another 'Too personal, you must learn to have the humility of the medieval artisans.' The first I am not ashamed…
