Description:
Washington: G.P.O., 1963. 62p., 6x9 inches, introduction, misconduct, collusion, fraud etc. in AGVA, underlining and bracketing in pink marker, stain on bottom corners, stapled printed green wraps. Printed name of Ann Terr d'Andre on inside cover, underlining likely hers. 88th Congress 1st session, Senate, report no. 310, June 25, 1963. Ann Terry d'Andre was a singer and protégé of John Hammond and a singer with the Benny Goodman band. She moved to San Francisco and married William Thornton, a Merchant Marine Officer. The best man was Harry Bridges. She was very active in the American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA), rising to Western Regional Representative of the union. Interest in possible fraud on the part of AGVA and employers arose due to reports centered on variety act which included stripped and exotic dancers. Not surprising this would catch the attention of the old goats on the Hill!
