Description:
Tashkent: Chief Editorial Office of Publishing and Printing Concern "Sharq, 1996. Hardcover. Not fully paginated: a substantial coffeetable book page-numbered through p.117 followed by nearly as many appended captioned color photos, ergo about 200p. total. The first eighty pages are entirely in Cyrillic and largely textual only, with floorplans and diagrams and scattered vignettes captioned in three languages; then English translation with a different set of vignette illustrations. Somewhat confusing, but excellent photography, all in focus and in color. Item is hardbound in 11.5x8.5 inch glossy white boards and enclosed in the dust jacket. Boards mildly spotted, dj edgeworn with a verso reinforcement to the head; a very good copy. Terminal leaf issues a realpolitik boast: "If you are still dubious about our powers, look at our constructions" - assumed to mean draw a lesson from "third world" Muslim tenacity.

Paris: Phebus, 1995. Paperback. 203p., illustrated solely with the color cover facsimile of a very old map showing the islands in question. Softbound, an 8x5.5 inch paperback entirely in the French language. Structurally a sound pleasant copy, but expect holograph comment (in English) and underlines on pp.13, 14 and back cover, pointing up the possibility of an old and continuing fraud (no shipwreck, no marooning, original publisher uncertain), a critical mind at work with ballpoint pen. An attractive item but as is, per description. d'ailleurs - collection dirigee par Jean-PIerre Sicre.

Tel Aviv: The Dvir Publishing Co, 1958. Portfolio. Eight numbered & titled drawings done in broad pen and pencil, enclosed in a 13.5x10 inch decorated cardstock portfolio that is fastened with staples. Plates are looseleaf (complete; as called for) with drawings shown on 11x7.5 inch sepia print-blocks. Prints are very good pace a touch of dust-soil to the wide margins, while the portfolio is abraded with scuffing, offset dust- and color-smudges and an odd puncture to graphic; luckily the same image turns up amongst the eight near-pristine ones. Item came to us with mucilage blots where an isingglass sur-wrap was pasted on; this onionskin-type wrapper was badly mutilated and (by us) discarded. A fair-to-good exemplar.

Single leaf of glazed alkaline stock folded four times to make an upright 8.5x3.5 inch promotional brochure for federal spending on water projects. Printed with b&w photos mingled with texts and tables.
