Los Angeles: the museums, printed by The Ward Ritchie Press, 1944. Hardcover. xi, 63p., plus 87 fullpage b&w plates on coated paperstock, captioned with cross-reference to other exemplars. Presswork on laid-lined alkaline stock, hardbound by local expert Ward Ritchie, and bound in 10x7.5 inch green photo-repro'd boards trimmed white. Casing is slightly edgeworn with a touch of fray to top rim, plates part of textblock is mildly foxed, a sound, clean, unmarked copy.

Calcutta: Modern Book Depot, 1961. Hardcover. Unpaginated preliminaries, 146p., v, illustrated from b&w photography (portraits, sites), and provides a huge folded line-drawn map bound in at terminus. Enclosed in the dust jacket; a hardbound item in 8.5x5.5 inch blank white boards with all titling on dj, this casing is sound but stained and mildly dust-soiled, while the dj has suffered small chips to head and tail of spine panel, and also a stain to rear panel. The big map, measuring 19x18 inches, is somewhat mis-folded and is a simple affair with next to no detail. The ffep is inscribed and signed by a lady datelining "Assam, India, Dec. 1963

Garden City: Doubleday & Company, 1976. Hardcover. xvi, 296p., illustrated with numerous sketches and diagrams, and enclosed in the dust jacket. Book itself shows mild wear at top and tail of spine panel, while the dust jacket is in poor shape, missing large chunks from its spine area, but don't discard, what's left has informative text and a big photoportrait of author (and "supermodel") Sims. Sims not a physician, but a savvy consumer of health care and beauty tech, and the advice of specialists. Writes well.

Santiago de Chile: Banco O'Higgins in association with the museum, 1985. Paperback. 85p., numerous exhibit photos (most in color) plus critical apparatus, printed on glazed alkaline paperstock; a softbound in 11x9.5 inch pictorial wraps with line-maps in two colors, two fold-out leaves showing artists' conceptions of unearthed ancient clothing as worn when new, a smart production in pretty good shape. Cover is edgeworn with slightly turned corner-tips, clean, sound and unmarked within: a good to very good copy.

Berkeley: University of California Press, 1964. Hardcover. xvi, 289p., find diagrammatic sketches and other visuals amongst the text, hardbound in grey boards with floral onlay and a cinnamon-brown backstrip gilt, and enclosed in the dust jacket. A presentable copy that has been handled a little roughly, leaving faint crimp marks throughout the text leaves; and the dust jacket is edgeworn. Quite clean, and otherwise sound and unmarked.

Ahmedabad: Mapin Publishing Pvt. Ltd, 1997. Hardcover. 196p., first edition 10.2x8.1 inch titled boards in color pictorial dust jacket; upper corners have sustained a mild bump that shows up on the text block, rather inconspicuous, in all other respects fine all around.

San Francisco: Re/Search Publications, 2009. Paperback. 319p., 8.25x11 inch wraps; profusely illustrated, photos., some pen notation on half-title page, mild handling of wraps, else very good condition. Anthology of Piss Clear's magazines.

Newark: the museum, 1975. Reprinted from 1961 issue: vi, 106p., includes about thirty pages of exhibit photography in b&w (not sharply re-reproduced). Presswork on glazed alkaline paper. One of a group of five, series format, each in 9.5x7.5 inch textured matte wraps, this one is blue. Condition: front cover is split at the joint where it meets the spine, this split now repaired but it may not hold. Spine panel is also sunned, the medium blue has turned to pale grey. An else sound, clean and unmarked copy. The complete set runs to five volumes.

London: Sotheby & Co, 1974. 131p., high-gloss paperstock throughout with b&w and some color reproductions, first issue of the catalogue; 9.5x7 inch decorated matte wraps, head and tail of spine have been repaired with clear tape, good copy with no ownership marks. The "estimates" leaf is laid in and is unmarked.

London: The British Library, 1985. Paperback. 80p., profuse b&w and color exhibit photography, well-captioned, softbound in 9x7 inch color wraps. Slightest external signs of handling & age, entirely clean interior, a nice crisp copy.

London: The School of Oriental Studies in conjunction with the China Society, 1928. Paperback. 60p., includes 24 numbered plates, some in color, these reproduce images of deities and settings in which wealth of various kinds is enjoyed. Reprint, softbound in 9.5x6 inch decorated slick wraps. A fine clean copy, without damage, soil or any markings.

Boston: Chrysalis, 1957. Pamphlet. 19 pages, illustrations. Staplebound wrappers. Very Good. Illustrated essay about the work of costume and set designer Horace Armistead who worked on the 1952 production of The Nutcracker by the New York Ballet. Louise Laurent (aka Lily) Hastings was co-editor of Chrysalis and herself a fashion designer, known for her work on Broadway and Off Broadway.

Philadelphia: The University Museum, 1950. Pamphlet. 60p., numerous b&w exhibit photographs, all text and pix printed on glazed alkaline paperstock; magazine textblock a little crimped here and there, the plain yellow covers have picked up dust and a small adhesion scar affecting the word 'Bulletin'. One staple is rusted with a touch of migration. Generally sound, entirely clean and unmarked within: a good ('good-only') copy. Frank Speck's last publication. Well-liked by students, colleagues, and evidently by Native survivors as well; he spent vacations with tribal folk.

Washington DC: Smithsonian Institution Press, 1997. Paperback. xv, 312p., illustrated with b&w snapshot photography (no close-ups), a substantial 9x6 inch softbound in photo-decorated wraps, completely sound, clean and unmarked, really as new.

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1953. Hardcover. 250p., illustrated with a generous clutch of b&w photographs by the author, hardbound in 8.5x5.5 inch dark grey papered boards lacking the jacket. Casing paper has small chips at most extremities, else sound, clean within and unmarked except for the endsheets, which bear a penciled ownership and a dealer's codes also in pencil.

Antwerpen / 'S-Gravenhage: De Sikkel / Martinus Nijhoff, 1946. Paperback. 127p., mostly text followed by a limited number of sketched diagrams explaining certain motifs, presswork on nice pulpy alkaline stock, softbound in 10x7.5 inch grey wraps printed in red and black. Textblock is cleanly and near-fine with most signatures unopened, any openings were neatly done, but the front cover joint is split 2/3 its length, spine panel tail has lifted away from signatures, corner-tips are worn and creased and one of the rear tips has been scissored off. The front free endpaper bears a single line of English-language text, reading "Costumes of Han period". As is, complete but a fair-only reading copy.

New York: the salon, 1942. Ephemera. Ten fascicles in a brad-bound envelope to size, presswork on alkaline near-cardstock weight paperstock. All ten fold to same measurements, and internal evidence confirms that these compose a complete set (for this particular First Week) Hudnut course. Some are printed four-page on a single leaf (folding only once), others on very large singleton sheets that fold to eight-pages, and the initial "quick guide" fascicle is stapled (yielding seven pages with a title-cover). The "First Week First Day" part has several splash stains, and the envelope, which fits them all perfectly, is misfolded with short tears- sound, o/w clean, absolutely unmarked. Densely printed instructions with sketch illustrations in black on pink stock. Sample from topics list: "pummelling...wringing. Putting things in closets. Rocking chair. Round shoulder

Paris: Editions Burkard, 1939. Single long folio sheet, 9.5x24 inches, folded twice to make eight panels (recto + verso) measuring 9.5x6, each panel providing directions and illustrations how to knit supportive clothing for French soldiers: sweaters (breast pockets for cigs), vests, socks, caps, knee-warmers, modeled by males and at least one lady. Paperstock is semi-alkaline and has survived nicely with just a touch of general toning and a bit more along foldlines. We see no damage, expect a line of pencilled notes by an earlier dealer, good copy. 1re Serie, No 3630, 70e Mille.

Halifax NS: Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, 1976. Pamphlet. 59p., b&w exhibition pix with a few site photos and a small number in color, softbound in 9x9 inch slick staple-fastened wraps; nice clean copy, quite sound and entirely unmarked.

London: Christie's, 2007. Hardcover. 348, 321p,, printed price list laid in with holograph info added. Plentiful color plates rendered clearly, numerous extraordinary maps, learned commentary by Christie staff. Catalogs a matched pair, each hardbound in openweave green cloth boards with large color onlay decoration, 10.7x8.2 inches. Corner-tips slightly bumped, otherwise the set is fine: totally sound, clean, and unmarked.
