Good. - Letter penned in black ink and filling the first side of a sheet of cream-colored letterhead folded to form 4 sides, each 7 inches high by 4-1/2 inches wide. The Pierrepont family crest is embossed at the top of the first side. Signed "Henry Pierrepont". The left side of the letter is slightly darkened with a piece out of the left margin, barely grazing one letter of the text. The bottom right corner is chipped. Folded twice for mailing. Good. Pierrepont sends to A. Benedict Davenport "a copy of the centennial celebration of the occupation of the Pierrepont Mansion in New Haven, thinking it might interest you, as it contains a photograph of James Pierrepont who married your ancestor Abigail Davenport." The paper is slightly darkened and there are 2 small stains to the left edge of the letter with additional stains & several notations on the 3 blank sides. Folded once for mailing. Good. <p>Pruyn writes to John E. Page of the "Young Mens Assn" thanking him for sending a check for $500 for three months' rent. New York State, aware that many records had been lost or destroyed after the war, was attempting to reconstruct a record of the state's home front activities in support of the war effort. The Buffalo War Council, which organized and directed all of Buffalo's civilian war activities, was recognized as being one of the most effective war councils in the state, if not the country.

A sheet of cream stock, 11-3/4 inches high by 18-1/2 inches wide, has been folded to form 4 sides, the 4th side being blank. The pages are somewhat darkened & lightly soiled with some staining & light foxing & the 2 leaves are detached. The program has been folded horizontally 3 times & is extremely fragile with tears to the margins at the folds. Fair. <p>Most of the program is devoted to listing the various city, village and county officers, police, fire companies and military personnel who are to take part in a procession led by the Grand Marshal H. B. Duryea. This is to be followed in the evening by a fireworks display and the illumination of city buildings with various delegations reporting to City Hall and the County Court Rooms.<p>Rare.

A price is penciled on the front wrap & the printed price is obliterated in ink. There is a crease to the top corner of the rear wrap. Pages [73]-146 plus 32 black- and-white plates depicting 245 earthenware articles. The hinges are reinforced with linen tape, which is partially detached at either end. The title page is lacking. There is offsetting & some small stains to the Contents page. The top corners of the last 3 plates are creased with a tiny chip out of one of them. The last 2 leaves are lightly creased with a tiny chip out of each. Ex-library with a label on the spine, a library pocket on the inside front wrap & a library stamp at the foot of the Contents page. The wrappers have been laminated. Good working copy.
