Translated from the French by Denise Folliot from the French edition titled Apollinaire le Mal-Aimé. 5-1/4" x 8", green cloth with gilt lettering on spine, dust soiling to top edge, light foxing and smudge to fore-edge, foxing and newspaper stains to end papers (laid-in clipping of Sept. 29, 1966 New York Times obituary of Apollinaire's friend André Breton conveys with this book), in unclipped, rubbed DJ with soiling at margins and 3/4" tear to back panel along spine. Notes in pencil by a former owner on rfep, pencilled margin bracket observed on one other page, else pages clean and unmarked.

Bookplate affixed to second front free end paper states the volume was awarded to (later Prof.) Warner Berthoff at the Hotchkiss School, 1943; that page is rumpled. Underscoring and/or marginalia in pencil observed on approximately 10 pages.
