Pulse: Student Magazine of the University of Chicago (30 Issues)

By -

The Students of the University of Chicago. Original Wraps. Collectible; Very Good. A wonderful selection of The University of Chicago's impressive monthly student magazine called "The Pulse". Spanning its maiden issue in September, 1937 thru March, 1941, and representing a critical period for the University (as the campus saw not only the lead-up to World War II but also its rise --under the stewardship of President Robert Hutchins--to a world-class institution). The 30 issues have held up very nicely and all are clean, bright and VG+ or better in their stapled pictorial wrappers. Magazine-formatted, each issue boasts dozens and dozens of crisp black-and-white photos documenting campus life and, naturally, highly-opinionated articles detailing all things related to the student body. Also some very interesting ephemera laid-into a number of the issues. An uncommon glimpse into late 30s-early 40s student life at one of the country's great centers of learning.
