About This Item

Orange, California: Chapman University Press / Neverland Media,, 2011. INSCRIBED / SIGNED by the AUTHOR, directly on the front free endpaper. The insciption reads: "To Imelda -- Thanks for all your help -- All the best -- (signed) Jack Lindquist." Appears unread. Near Fine condition (FINE but for a paperclip mark on endpaper) in a bright and shiny Very Fine dust jacket. NO chips or tears. NO rubbing or fading. NO creases. Sharp corners. NOT a remainder. All other pages are crisp, clean and unmarked -- apparently never read. Bound in the original black boards stamped in shiny gold. From the dust jacket: "Jack Lindquist enjoyed the ballet with the Shah of Iran, convinced Gene Autry to sell the Anaheim Angels to The Disney Company, and was gently reprimanded by Imelda Marcos. Throughout his 38-year career with The Disney Company, starting out as the first advertising manager of Disneyland just months after its opening to ending his career as the first president of the park, Jack took risks -- some successful, some not so successful -- but always with his characteristic humor and joie de vivre. Disneyland and Walt Disney World serve as the backdrop for Jack s experiences, as he established himself as a maverick and helped form a large slice of Americana dominated by Disney. When Jack wasn't rubbing shoulders with the movers and shakers of every decade he worked for the Disney Company, he was busy creating Disney Dollars and Date Nite. He recounts all of this and more, including his humorous mistakes, in this touching memoir, IN SERVICE TO THE MOUSE.". INSCRIBED / SIGNED by the AUTHOR. Hardcover. Near Fine condition/Very Fine dust jacket. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 8vo. (x), 248pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
