Description:
Shandong: Xinhua she, 1973. Set of 22 numbered photographs, average size around 6x9 inches, with ten of the original numbered printed paper caption slips (missing 12), and an introductory poster. The set was issued by China's central news and propaganda agency to celebrate the visit by Sihanouk to the Khmer Rouge's "liberated zone" in rural Cambodia. These sets were designed for public display, and they all have thumbtack holes, suggesting that this is how this set was also used. The photos are in better condition than one usually finds them, though some are soiled. The introductory poster, with a large red title, has some foxing and fold creases. Photographs depict the prince and his entourage, Khmer Rouge guerrillas in the field and at political training classes, Cambodian guerrilla leaders assembling at Angkor Wat, and related subjects.
