Chicago: Walter M. Hill, 1923. First Edition; publisher’s boards; very good; one of 250 copies printed. This is the dedication copy; inscribed by Starrett to his friend and fellow Chicago poet, Tom Kennedy; “Dear Tom - Tradition demands that the dedication copy be handsomely inscribed. In the circumstances, I can do no better than quote my favorite line from something quoted by Arthur Machen - Calix meus inebrious quam praeciarus est! And I am ever faithfully yours, Vincent Starrett. Christmas 1922.” Additionally inscribed under the dedicatory poem, “Approved, this 20th day of December, 1922. V.S.”.
