Highly political the publication would comment on the socio-political climate of 19th century Britain, offer opinion pieces of topics such as slavery, law, reform and industry. Among the piece featuring in this volume, titles include: 'Roderick, the last of the Goths' by Robert Southey, and 'The Journal of a Misson to the Interior of Africa' by Mungo Park.
