A groundbreaking work of geography and topography with numerous large color foldout maps issued by the TVA's Department of Regional Planning Studies, this copy belonged to TVA officer of Regional Planning Studies James Peneff and bears his signature on the free endpaper with other markings. The TVA was created by Congress in 1933 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. Its initial purpose was to provide navigation, regional planning, and economic development to the Tennessee Valley, and this book served as a guide to planners and government auditors. An important record of New Deal works and the geography of Tennessee and the surrounding areas during this period. A fine, clean, unmarked copy. Extremely scarce.
