xxiv, 342, [2] pp.First edition of the account of the three very important explorations by the Hungarian-born archaeologist Marc Aurel Steins (1862-1943) and of his researches carried out in Chinese Turkistan and adjacent parts of innermost Asia in 1900-1901, 1906-1908 and 1913-1914. Stein travelled through Pamirs, Khotan and Niya to Dunhuang, Suchou, Turfan and Kashgar to Samaskand and the northern and southern silk roads.
