Contemporary half dark blue calf, spines gilt extra in 4 compartments with two crimson lettering pieces, gilt Admiralty crest to upper covers and Admiralty prize label to endpapers. All edges marbled. Small nick to one lettering piece. A handsome binding in excellent condition. The binding by Thomas de la Rue & Co. London, with their ticket.

Vols 1 spine taped and Vol 5 clean no markings. They provide an essential and invaluable source for the further research of the entire naval war in all the parts of the world. NOTE: Plans 4 and 5 missing from Vol 2. Plans 1-3 missng in Vol 3 map book, Map 9 missing from Vol 4 mapbook. All other maps appear to be present and undamaged. Remaining volumes are bright and clean. Most have previous owner bookplates inside front cover. Text is clean. Hard to find in clean condition.. 1st Edition. Cloth.
