Stafleu 8347. First edition, new were published in 1870 and 1879. Prior (1809-1902) was a British botanist, living in South Africa, Canada, USA and Jamaica and finally in London, fellow of the Linnaean Society. He was also the translator of ”Ancient Danish Ballads”. This book gives the etymology of plant names and tracing their origins from the Greek, Old English, French and others languages.
