Description:
Trenton NJ: Past Times Press, 1957. 1st 'limited' . Cloth-backed marbled boards. Good-VG. 14 Cms x 22 Cms. Everett Gee Jackson. f/piece+x+88, 1 further plate, num.text figs & headpieces; sl.gutter opening between f/piece & t.p. where adhesive has failed, author's sig.pasted bottom t.p., clipped from end of letter, and sm. cartoon picture of boy emerging from chimney pot on fr.free endpaper apparently from same source as similar typing visible on verso; covers quite acceptable though edges and corners sl.rubbed. An interesting and scarce monograph, among other things explaining 19th cent. campaigner's neglect of the issue in the U.S. compared to U.K. in part by the fact that most sweeps were African American.
