Description:
Seattle: The Mountaineers, 1997. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 1997 First Printing of the First Mountaineers Edition (same size and format as the original 1995 English language edition). SIGNED by Achille Compagnoni and by Lino Lacedelli on the rear of the DJ on the image of them on the summit of K2 (first ascent of the great mountain). We obtained the signatures at mountain festivals in Italy that we visited. The book was too big and unwieldy to bring, but the DJ rolled in a sturdy tube was manageable. The book is signed on the title page by Kurt Diemberger. Diemberger's signature was obtained by us at a lecture he gave in Seattle promoting the book. K2 items signed by both Compagnoni and Lacedelli are very uncommon as they rarely appeared together at public events. The book measures 36cm tall x 25cm, and has 144 pages, 116 color & 38 b/w photos, 2 maps (1 is a large color modern topo), 2 drawings.
