FIRST EDITION 1685, small 8vo, approximately 175 x 105 mm, 7 x 4¼, pages: [2], 1-98, collation: A-F8, G2, bound in 19th century speckled calf, rebacked to style with blind rules and 5 small gilt ornaments, gilt titled red morocco label, edges speckled red, original endpapers retained, housed in a specially made box with quarter morocco spine with gilt lettering and cloth sides. Corners slightly worn, tiny surface scrape at top edge on lower cover, small illustrated bookplate on front pastedown of Dean Sage, American fishing enthusiast and bibliophile, small smudged ink note in margin of page 1, some upper margins slightly trimmed, just shaving 1 or 2 running titles, inscription at foot of final page inked out, this ink stain on the last page has affected the text on the other side of the leaf, with some loss to text (see attached image).
