Illustrated with over 80 b&w illustrations after woodcuts by J.J. Lankes. Still one of the best books on making woodcuts, as well as a nice overview of Lankes' work. .

A very good copy in the green cloth binding. Lankes was associated with Robert Frost illustrated books.

One of the great woodcut artists of the century here presents the processes and materials by which he created his art, with accompanying autobiographical asides. A clean, tight copy, unmarked and bright. Scarce.

New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1932. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. A perfectly serviceable copy of the 1932 stated 1st printing. Tight and VG in its pictorial oatmeal cloth, with light streaking to the panels and mild, inconspicuous staining along the bottom-edge. And in a bright, price-clipped, VG dustjacket, with similar light streaking along its covers. Several small closed tears as well --and very mild creasing and chipping-- along the panel edges. Still though, quite presentable and, internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings of any kind. Quarto, very impressive manual on the art and technique of the woodcut.
