Publisher's cloth boards with gilt titling and decoration in silver. VERY GOOD. Shows very slight shelf rubbing of the extremities, one corner has been chipped, last folding map with a short closed tear neatly held together by a single piece of tape, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text and illustrations are clean and completely unmarked, and the boards remain exceptionally bright, colorful, and distinct. As pictured.

Greely details their difficulties with navigating sea ice, starvation, and what life in the camp was like. Volume one lacking the free rear endpaper, plates show some foxing, volume two lacks the pocket map.
