Publisher's red cloth lettered in gilt to spine, gilt illustration to front board, gilt edges of textblock, embossed illustration to back board. Spotting to pages, darkening of gilt textblock edges but edges remain attractive and relatively shiny, rolling to spine, a little fraying of cloth to spine, spine warped, bumping to corners and edges. Very good. This book is an attractive copy of The Magic Mirror. Although a little faded, the gilt remains bright. The illustrations throughout are charming and add humour to the tales. This book was illustrated by W. S. Gilbert, and he is best known due to his connection with Arthur Sullivan.

This volume of Victorian tales is illustrated by the author's son, William Schwenk Gilbert, the famous playwright and librettist who would go on to collaborate with composer Arthur Sullivan on 14 operas.
