Difficult to find as a set, given the span between publication dates. These have been nicely rebound in dark brown buckram, titles stamped in white to spine. There are more than 7,000 books and pamplets on Canada described. Entries in English and French, as determined by original publication. Near fine set, flawless but for a small tear to a paste down and some tape to the half title page of the first volume..

Quebec: The Author, 1895. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Quarto. 711pp. Text in French. Illustrated with many facsimiles. Bound in black buckram with spine gilt. Preliminaries with foxing, spine lightly faded, a solid very good copy. With the partly printed bookplate of the American Art Association Book and Print Department tipped-on to the front pastedown. The bookplate is also typewritten, noting that the AAA purchased the book from C.F. Heartman on July 6, 1917, and that they paid $5.25 for the book and $2.75 for the binding. A second volume of the bibliography was published in 1913.

The magnitude of his work as a book collector, and the question of what might become of it, was a frequent source of worry to Gagnon. As early as 1885 he had begun to consider divesting himself of his collection.
