NY 1973 first edition. Aperture. Hardcover large 4to., 285pp., photo illustrations, gray-green cloth hardcover with black cloth spine. Near Fine, very slight foxing on fore-edges (not onto text pages at all) in Near Fine DJ. The front inner blurb flap has two small corner creases; there are no tears, no chips,price is not clipped. The dj is brown with photo image of ocean near rocks ( i.e. First edition, 2nd issue DJ), price not clipped. No owner marks. Pictures available on request. Surely among the greatest of all photographers. .

Some waterstaining at bottom of pages that does not get into images.1500 copies printed, designed by Merle Armitage. #1192. With Weston's initials in ink. With a short chapter about Weston by Robinson Jeffers.Weston chose these photographs as his best. At this point his health was not good and this book was a tribute to his career.

Very good copy in fair dust jacket. 1947. 1st. hardcover. 4to, 16 pp.+ plates, Limited to 1500 numbered copies, signed (initials only as it was issued) by the photographer., Texts by Merle Armitage (who also designed the book), Robinson Jeffers, Donald Bear & Edward Weston himself. The first few pages and, to a lesser extent, the last few pages have some discoloration along the outer edges, not affecting any text or image. Front hinge is partially cracked, but holding well. The dust jacket is worn along the spine folds and is missing small chips at spine ends. .

Inscribed by Weston on half-title page, "To Bill and Zelda from Edward with his love. 10-19-47." William Holger was a friend of Weston from the 1930s when they met through the f/64 photography group. Holger was a carpenter and construction supervisor in San Francisco. He helped Weston construct his home on Wildcat Hill in Carmel.
This is Weston's second monograph produced and designed by Merle Armitage with written contributions by Armitage, Donald Bear and Robinson Jeffers.
One of 1500 copies numbered copies, initialed by Weston on a separate sheet and pasted on the colophon leaf. This is an unnumbered copy noted in ink as "personal".

First edition, one of 1,500 copies (this is number 253), initialed in ink on a separate small slip and mounted on the justification leaf (as issued). Beautifully designed by Merle Armitage and printed by Lynton R. Kistler. A fine association copy, with the bookplate of writer and photographer Carl Van Vechten (1880-1964).
