New York: Story Press, 1944. First Edition. Paperback. Vol. XXIV, March 1944, No. 106. 104 pp. Wraps. About Very Good with a number of tiny indents to front wrap, chicken tracks there as well; spine sunned, edge rubbed, back wrap soiled; interior fairly bright and clean. The hard-drinking American poet and novelist's first trade publication, probably following a 1940 magazine called Write, of which no known copies exist. He was 24 at the time. Description:
Story Magazine, New York, 1944 A beautiful copy of the first documented publication of Charles Bukowski. In Vol. XXIV, No. 106 (March-April 1944) of Story Magazine, "The Magazine of the Short Story", founded by Whit Burnett and Martha Foley in 1931. Printed wraps, 9 1/4 x 6 7/8 inches. Very good --- near fine (mild edgewear; mild sunning, spine; binding tight and pages clean).
