DJ has very thin, very tiny tear and creases along top front edge, two wide nicks at spine top left and right edge, spotting around all front edges and bottom back, very thin 1" tear at bottom front edge, two 1/4" tears at top back edge with crease between.. A thorough essay on Anglo-Saxon poetry by Gavin Bone. The first edition of this work, inscribed by Getrude Bone to half title page "To Oswald B Powell with best wishes for 1944 from Muirhead and Gertrude Bone."Gavin Bone, son to Gertrude and Muirhead Bone, wrote this short essay to accompany his translations of Anglo-Saxon poems. Unfortunately, he died before he could finish his work, and this volume includes only the first paragraph as its introduction, to what would have been a longer work planned as part of the main fabric of English literature.
