Large surface tear to frontis. Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with creased corners and foxing. Hinges and guttering are cracked. Binding is loose. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

And justly so, in that it was not only exhaustive, with 2751 recipes, formulas, and instructions for all aspects of household management, but it also was one of the earliest cookbooks to use color illustration (not present in this facsimile, and one of the first to use the standard format we know now, with ingredients first, and then step-by-step instructions. Gift inscription in ink to the front fly, otherwise fine in publisher's gilt-tiled red cloth. Slight rubbing to very good dust jacket, illustrated with a design by Leigh Taylor.
