Paris: Privately Printed for Frederic Warde (by the Officina Bodoni), 1926. Hardcover. Very Good. Quarter vellum gilt with red decorated paste paper-covered boards, 8vo, xvi, 62, (1) pages. Facsimile reproductions of Arrighi's La Operina (1522) and Il Modo de Temperare le Penne (1523), with a 16 page introduction by Stanley Morison printed in Arrighi "Vincentino" italic. One of 300 copies designed by Frederic Warde and printed by Hans (Giovanni) Mardersteig at the Officina Bodoni in Montagnola on mouldmade Zanders paper. One of two books Mardersteig printed in collaboration with Warde (the other being "Crito") and the first of a number of Renaissance writing books printed at the Officina Bodoni. This copy signed by Frederic Warde at the colophon. Name of Douglas H. Smith, spine mildly and uniformly toned, light edgewear and soiling, else a clean very good copy in archival mylar.
