A Near Fine copy with some slight rubbing to spine ends; boards a trifle cocked. Although this U.S. reprint is undated, 1899 is the year given for publication in Gibson & Green's bibliography of Doyle.

Small splits to spine head. Gilt lettering is darkened.

This is the hardcover only stated undated Collier Edition. Other than a small tear on photo page of Doyle and page to spine could use reinforcement (fully intact!), both the cover and the book are in positively excellent condition.
