Description:
Philadelphia PA: J B Lippincott, 1916. First Edition. Hardcover. VG to vg+. TRUE FIRST EDITION ltd to ONLY 250 copies. 242 pp. One of the rarest of all African elephant hunting titles. Privately printed for the editor, George Harrison for distribution to such hunters as Theodore Roosevelt and Sir Alfred Pease. A book that has long been in demand. First editions are always highlights of any collection. Slight wear at corners. Spine nice but spine label has thin rub mark. With a one page handwritten letter from George Harrison (the man who carried Finaughty's manuscript to America from Africa) saying it is the only book he ever had published pasted inside front cover. From the collection of Hubert Wells, owner of Animal Actors of Hollywood, trainer of many famous African lions and more, his name on front free endpaper, title page, and page 109 in book. A really nice copy with some interesting associations.
