About This Item
Sauk City, WI: August Derleth, 1963. Paperback. (Volume Four, Number One). 8vo. Stiff cream wrappers. 36pp. Very good. Minor edgewear. The renowned Wisconsin literary figure, novelist, poet, you name it, edited these "poems of man and nature" from 1960 to 1963. Contributors to this issue include -- besides Derleth himself -- Jesse Stuart, Edsel Ford and many others. Nice association copy, from the library of contributor JOHN BEECHER (1904-80), noted social protest poet and fine press publisher, whose poetry collection "Report to the Stockholders & Other Poems" is reviewed by Derleth himself on page 36 of this issue --- quite favorably, by the way. Near the bottom of the front wrapper, Beecher's artist wife BARBARA (b. 1925) neatly pens "Marked Copy -- See pg. 36" and pencils beneath this "(Review of RTTS & OP)." An uncommon copy of an uncommon journal.
