About This Item
Westport, CT: Greenwood Press, 1973. Born in Sweden in 1872, Anderson came to the States as a teen and worked in various menial positions. In Chicago at the age of 22, she joined a trade union and became interested in the power of unions to improve workers' lives, eventually rising to the head of the Women's Bureau of the United States Department of Labor. Here she recounts her life story, which Winslow has transcribed from conversations and interviews. Hardcover, as pictured; no jacket, likely as issued. Originally published by Minnesota in 1951, this is the second Greenwood printing, 1973. Light wear to book, upper corners badly bumped; name/address label mostly removed on free endsheet; minor foxing to rear endsheets, light spotting to front cover. Text clean; xii, 266 pages; index, bibliography, appendix.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Octavo.
