About This Item

Chicago, IL: The Professional Press, 1934 The Professional Press, Chicago, IL. 1934. Hardcover. Stated 2nd Edition, revised and enlarged. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Good +; bumping to head and tail; flaking of gilt lettering on the spine; light shelfwear with wear through fabric on lower tips. No DJ. Green cloth boards and spine with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean internals. Interior hinges are sound and not split. 384 pp 8vo. The author was not an optometrist nor an ophthalmologist but more of an ENT physician who wrote this book about definitions for ocular terms that were common in the 1930s and pertained more to those physicians (optometry and ophthalmology) who were interested in refraction the eye and prescribing -intelligently- glasses and contact lenses, but they were glass at that time. Many terms are the same as today but many are very archaic and not in common usage today. An interesting book for a look back at the information that became to be mostly in the realm of optometry. A clean very presentable copy.
