About This Item

Adelaide: Published by Author. 2013. Small Quarto Size [approx 17.5cm x 24cm]. Mint Condition. A New copy. Illustrated with Black & White Photographs and Drawings. Signed by the author. Robust, professional packaging and tracking provided for all parcels. 258 pages. James Grassie [1813-1904] was a Scottish poet and storyteller who moved to Australia in 1852 and claimed to have been at the Eureka Stockade in 1854. His first few poems published in Australia seem to have appeared in the Geelong Advertiser and Intelligencer in 1955-56 although these were unattributed but match his writing style and themes. He seems to have formed a good relationship with local aborigines and many of his poems recount the negative experiences that they suffered. Much of his life in Australia was in the general area of the South East of South Australia & Western Victoria. . New. 1st Edition. Softcover.
