London, John Sudbury and George Humbell (Humble), 1610. Original Engraved Map. With later Hand Colouring. With printed description of the County on rear side. Engraved surface 20 x 15 inches. Overall 25 x 20 inches. Framed in mount. In very good condition. Some areas of minor darkening and some minor spots, along Irish Sea and Llanbadarn Hills. With centre-fold present and correct. Neat and tidy colouring. A beautiful map. Later Hand colouring. With view of Cardigan, Part of the Irish Sea, Scale and Crests. With Topographical description on verso side. Map of Cardigan from 1610, with town plan and coats of arms. From John Speed’s ‘Theatre of the Empire of Britain’, originally engraved by Jodocus Hondius, with a brief description and history with list of Divisions and Hundreds on the back. Provenance note to rear of frame (rubbed and faint) “From the possesion of Charles Morgan Davies, in about the year 1900, passing to his grandson Charles Lyndon Livsey Davies in 1964, when it was mounted and reframed.”
