About This Item
Philadelphia: The Freihofer Bread Company, 1934. Folding brochure and children's growth chart extolling the virtues of Freihofer's Perfect Loaf: "wheat plus milk equals health." Printed in black and red on heavy off-white card stock. Five panels, which measure 3" x 8 1/2 " folded and extend to 44 inches with measurements up to five feet when the growth chart is hung, as instructed, two feet up from the bottom edge. Some light toning on one panel; otherwise very good.
Includes instructions for use of the growth chart: "If the rate of growth is not satisfactory or the child is not showing sound physical development - consult your family physician. Make sure of a good basic diet. Plenty of Freihofer's Perfect Bread - plenty of fresh milk, fresh fruit, and sensible, substantial foods - always."
What is now known as Freihofer's Bread Company was first established in 1894 in Camden, New Jersey by brothers Charles and William Freihofer. Known at various times as the Charles and William Friehofer Baking Company, the Freihofer Vienna Baking Company, and the Freihofer Banking Company, the company continues to survive today as a brand owned by the multinational bakery conglomerate Bimbo Bakeries. Scarce, OCLC locates no holdings.
