NY: Scribners, 1956. Bound in black cloth and grey boards, stamped in red. The dustwrapper was tape reinforced on the spine ends (probably back in the 50's) and shows some shadowing to the edges. Neatly signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Basis for the 1959 Vincent Sherman film, "The Young Philadelphian," that starred Paul Newman. An acceptable copy, especially signed. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/VG+.

Bound in cloth with gilt lettering and unclipped dustwrapper. First edition. Richard Pitts Powell (1908 1999) was an American novelist. In the 1940s, Powell began writing fiction and in 1958 was able to devote himself to writing full time. His first published books were Inner Sanctum Mysteries, published from 1943 to 1955. His major publishing debut, The Philadelphian in 1957, spent more than six months on the bestseller list. In a cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally very smart. The binding is tight and firm. There is some mild wear to the extremities, including bumping. The dustwrapper has a couple of small closed tears and chips. There is a section missing along the top of the rear panel. Internally the pages are clean and bright with a couple of spots on the endpapers. Very Good
