About This Item
Bahamas. unbound. very good(+). Authentic official signed portrait photograph of the nation of Bahamas first Prime Minister, "Lynden Pindling", 8" x 10", black and white, depicting President Pindling seated next to a mounted plaque of the Bahamian Coat of Arms. Excellent condition.

"The Father of the Nation" of the Bahamas, having led it to majority role on January 10, 1967 and to independence on July 10, 1973. His reputation became somewhat tarnished in later years when it was revealed that he accepted millions of dollars from Meyer Lansky in return for surrendering control of Bahamian gambling casinos to the mob - and millions more from the Colombian Medellin Cartel and Panamanian strongman Manuel Noriega. The American Government states that Pindling may have pocketed as much as 35 million dollars in kick-backs.
