While most sequels disappoint, this one certainly doesn’t. It is a wonderful fantasy book, with just a tinge of science fiction, something that wasn’t in the first book, and the supernatural, something that was touched on in the first book, but expanded in The Candlestone. This book is an amazing story of faith, redemption, and love. Bonnie is the shining example of faith throughout the book, as well as love and forgiveness. Those last ideas are being shown to her father, who did not act as a father should, such as putting his child’s best interest before his own. This is an amazing book, and I recommend it to all fantasy-book lovers from age 13 and up.

This was the first Bryan Davis book I ever read, and one of the first Christian fantasy books I ever read (aside from the classics of Narnia and Lord of the Rings), so I was a little apprehensive about reading it to start with. The book did not disappoint, it wasn’t as heady as Lord of the Rings, so you can read through it quite easily, and yet it wasn’t as simple as the Narnia books, lots of information, but not too much that would make your brain choke. With lots of action, amazing storyline, and tons of surprises along the way, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy book.

If you were to read one book (series) in your entire lifetime, this would be it! This book has it all, humour, mystery, action, romance, and more. Beyond the reflection’s edge takes you on a journey with Nathan Sheppard to other worlds and times that make you believe anything is possible. Definitely Bryan Davis’ finest work so far! - JessicaH
