Issue begins with statement of journal's purpose: "Every month will bring with it some novelty of science or art, some lesson of virtue or experience. Under each sign (of the Zodiac) , we shall be found gathering the choicest andmost useful productions of genius and wisdom". Articles on "The Power of the Press", Metternich, the Art of Navigation, some original poetry "never before published": "India" by James Gray (c. 1770-1830) who died in Bhooj, India.
