Title page printed in red and black. 201 pp. plus 12 page illustrated publisher's list of other books by Maclay. Illustrated with full page plates. Very good, some light soiling to the white cloth. Historical-basedlfiction work based on "the diary of an English lad who wserved in the frigate Macedonian during the memorable action with the American frigate United States, and who afterward deserted and entered the American navy...". Maclay published several books on American naval history; his father and grandfather were both United States Senators from Pennsylvania.
