Description: Illustrated in b&w with 75 photos, maps and drawings by the author. The author gained a taste for climbing as an infantryman in WWII. Climbing has become a family sport for the Lewises. Through a fourteen-year period they progressed from mountain hikes to climbing school, to guided climbs, to team climbs. In contrast to the death-defying (or death-inviting) climbs featured in many mountaineering books, the author writes here of climbing in the United States and Canada, and Mr Lewis uses his knowledge as a Mechanical Engineer to analyze climbs and the use of ropes for safety. blue cloth with black text and art; the hinges are creaky but not shaken; otherwise a Very Good book
