New York: Friendship Press, 1932. First edition. Hardcover. Fine. First edition (no statement as is correct). A generally fine, bright copy. Lacking very uncommon dust jacket. Hardcover in black cloth lettered in red. Striking red silhoutte endpapers deisgned by Ayer. 182 pp. Buck's third novel, following "The Good Earth" for which she won the 1932 Pulitzer. "The Young Revolutionist" was first utilized by the Missionary Education Movement that issued a six-session study guide ("Youth and Revoluiton In China") based on Buck's book. The book, in noveliztion form, describes the lives of youths in 1920s China. During her lifetime, she never included this book in her bibiographies and thus it remains unnoted in most lists of her books.

Decorative red and white EPs by Ayer.This copy is NEAR FINE in a VG, unclipped ( price of $1.50 on both flaps) also designed by Ayer. Exterior is rich, lettering is bright. Spine ends a bit crimped, but edges/tips are sharp. Inside is unmarked, crisp, and tight with modest toning. Red/yellow/ black pictorial DJ moderate chipping at spine ends, 1/2" closed tears at bottom and top front near spine, and a verso tape repaired 2" x2" section at bottom front. LTD., 1932. 1st UK edition. 12mo hardcover. 187pp. Previously owned by Willis Linn Jepson, with his custom bookplate to the front pastedown. Additionaly inscribed "From my niece Dorris Pellet, Palma de Mallorica, Spain, October, 1932. W.L. Jepson" to the top of the front pastedown. Willis Linn Jepson (1867–1946) was a prominent American botanist. Jepson, as a founding member, played a significant role in the early formation of the Sierra Club. Fair book and Near Good dust jacket. Edgeworn with bumped corners, rubbed boards and mildew staining. The jacket and a few leaves also stained. The jacket is edge chipped, especially to the spine, but is intact. "In revolutionary China, a young soldier's unwavering faith in the cause is shaken by the war's brutality."
